As a music historian, I am rather fixated on anniversaries. My own research has included a fiftieth anniversary history of Australia’s Intervarsity Choral Festival Movement (1999), a fiftieth anniversary history of the Canberra Choral Society (2002), and a 150th anniversary history of Trinity College, the oldest of the residential colleges affiliated to the University of Melbourne (2022). So, when I saw that this issue of Context was to be the fiftieth, I could not resist suggesting that this remarkable milestone be celebrated with an introductory essay.
